Important information about the program!!!

The Gay Sport Zurich is proud to announce the 10th Queer Crossing of the Lake Zurich. The event is taking place on 18th July 2009. For all lovers of long distance swimming and also for passionate lake swimmers, this crossing is an absolutely must!! But we welcome also part time swimmers who enjoy swimming in open waters.

The distance to be swum is approx. 1800 meters. The time limit is set to 1 hour. The start will be at Strandbad Tiefenbrunnen and the finish line is at Strandbad Wollishofen (see map)

Schedule of Event

Friday July 17th 2009

  • Registration from 19.00h til 21.00h (Café Gloria, Josefstrasse 59, 8005 Zürich)
  • Meeting Point for Hosted Housing

 

Saturday July 18th 2009

    • Late inscription for competitors arriving the day itself (registration must be completed before!)
    • Crossing of the Lake Zurich from Strandbad Tiefenbrunnen to Strandbad Wollishofen. Start approx. 10am. Meeting at the Strandbad Tiefenbrunnen not later than 09.15am.
    • Each Swimer will be provided with a starting number and a bathing cap
    • Shortly before the start there will be a Warm-Up for all participants
    • After the last swimmer has reached the finishing line, a brunch will be served at the Restaurant in the Strandbad, followed by the presentation ceremony.
   
     

General Information 

  • Age groups:

    Group A              up to 20 years
    Group B             21 – 30 years
    Group C             31 – 40 years
    Group D             41 years and older

    Classification will be for Girls and Boys separately!
  • The wearing of a wetsuit (neoprene) is allowed but without classification
  • Should the water temperature be below 21°C (Water Temperatures) or weather conditions not suitable for swimming across the lake, we reserve the right to cancel the swim. The brunch will be held either way.
  • Fees:
    - Crossing “Total”
    (incl. entries to the Strandbad and Brunch)       CHF 50.00
    - Crossing “Light”
    (incl. entries to the Strandbad without Brunch)  CHF 20.00
    - Only Brunch
    (for Visitors, Fans, Supporters etc.)                   CHF.35.00

 

The Fee must be paid in advance after registration by Bank or Post Order. The Registration is only valid after receipt of the corresponding fee. For payment details, see the registration page.

  • There will be a luggage shuttle from the start to the finish
  • Swimmers will be accompanied by Life Guard Boats from start to finish.
  • Insurance is up to the competitors
  • Registration closes on 10th July 2009
